E-paper Sailing Map
Custom PCB motherboard with E-Paper and battery recharge modules
Project Overview
A navigational tool that sets itself apart by using electronic paper display (EPD) instead of the conventional LED or LCD. The device tells a sea-faring adventurer their global positioning point in addition to the presence of any potential hazards that could be lurking in the depths.
Solution
A proof-of-concept was already built by the client, so Maximal’s mission was to furnish a custom PCB that integrated off-the-shelf hardware modules into an MVP prototype.
Results
The USB-C and Li-Po battery charging systems proved successful while the customization of the EPD portion revealed that a partnership would be needed with the provider of that module to proceed. The company thanks Maximal for the initial contributions that have let them endeavor in a new direction.
